Paradise Found

This was my second visit to Satori at Grace Bay. I loved the place even better the second time around. Maybe it was because this time I spent more time on the cool breezy deck with a coconut rum smoothie in one hand and my e-reader in the other. Satori is in a central location. We could walk to the fish fry or to the Beach House for great meals. The best beach-accessed snorkelling reef in Provo is at the end of the road, and we sure enjoyed swimming with turtles (seriously). The house is clean, comfortable, easy to maintain and has everything that a person really needs. The beds are comfortable. I don’t know why someone would choose a standard hotel room, when they can have this huge awesome house for a better price. Our daughters were able to roam the yard catching geckos, and I felt completely safe because I could see them through one of the many windows in the house. I did some DIY bonefishing with success in Turtle Tail Beach. If you travelled the world, I would bet that you couldn’t find a better beach than the Grace Bay beach in front of Satori. Joann was a fantastic host, as usual. Thanks for another wonderful vacation. Hopefully we will again return one day. We agree that Satori is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation

We agree that Satori is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation

Jo Ann, your rental property was so spacious and well equipped. It was my idea of what a beach house should look like.  We loved the decor, especially the art (photo/canvasses).  Grace bay beach is the most beautiful beach, uncrowded, powdery white sand that stretches forever.  We didn’t want to leave and can hardly wait to go back.  Thanks again Jo Ann.

This was our first trip to the Caribbean…

We stayed for 19 days in February 2013 with our 2 year old daughter Madeleine. My parents also visited for 5 of those days.

The weather in Providenciales was great. We had a few really hot days (felt like 90s) and a few days of rain and wind that were in the high 70s but most days were in the 80s with a lot of sun. Make sure you bring plenty of sun screen and cover up because the sun is intense for those of us from the frozen north!

The house at Satori was great. It is nicely decorated and was very clean. The beds are comfortable and the water is hot with plenty of pressure.

JoAnn was also good to work with. This was our first trip to the Caribbean so we had a lot of questions and she was always flexible and quick to respond to our inquiries.

Finally, renting a car is an absolute must. The island is small but things are spread out so you will definitely need a car to enjoy yourself.

Most Beautiful Place in the World

We stayed at Satori at Grace Bay for 2 weeks in November. Two couples, perfect house. The house was amazing, exactly like the pictures. Safe, Functional, Beautiful…Well stocked Kitchen with everything you need but the food. We rented a car for the first two days so we could stock up on groceries and get there from the airport. Then we rented for 1 day later on to stock up again and to see more of the island. Iga Grocery store a few minutes away. Dined out a couple times at the Tiki Hut in Turtle Cove and at Chinsons for jerk pork/chicken & shrimp. absolutely delicious.

Satori is a two minute walk to the beautiful beach of Grace Bay. Just carried the chairs provided at the house for the beach and had our own space, never crowded. Great snorkeling right there and further up the beach (about a 15 minute walk) at Smith Reef.

The owner was there while we were there and was a great help with ideas on what to do and see. Very accommodating answering all of our questions.

‘Satori’… at Grace Bay

My husband and I along with another couple rented this property in January. It was LOVELY! The house was immaculately clean, the rooms are larger than they appear in the photos, the beds were comfy and we LIVED on the outdoor patio. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. We had breakfast on the patio every morning and bought lunch and snack items for the beach. The location was great….a hop, skip and a jump away from Grace Bay Beach and far enough away from the big resorts to never be crowded on the beach. With decorative wrought iron on all windows and doors, we felt especially safe…even though there doesn’t seem to be a crime problem; at least that we saw. If you want to do things other than just going to the same beach, I’d recommend renting a car. We had good luck with Grace Bay Rentals. We went all over the island; Long Beach, Malcolm Roads Beach, Chaulk Sound, Taylor Bay, Sapsodilla Bay as well as a few restaurants and shopping areas. We took the Ferry over to North and Middle Caicos one day, which was a lot of fun. JoAnn and her folks were very hospitable, and helpful with information and answers to our questions. They gave us great restaurants tips and we had terrific meals. One of our favorites was Mango Reef, on the water. All four of us would recommend this house again to friends and family. When you see how high the island prices are, you’ll recognize this as a true value.

‘A Dream Come True’

We spent approximately one month at Satori in March-April of 2012. We are a family with two young daughters. This place was the absolute best choice for us. The house is awesome: clean, well-constructed, safe and beautiful. The house is bullet-proof in that it’s impossible to break-into (so you can relax at the beach without worrying about having your stuff stolen!). The vaulted ceilings and screened windows allowed us enjoy the island breezes. The house feels like home; rather than just a rental. The kitchen is stocked with basic appliances and there is a BBQ too. Because our stay was long, we got a good feel for what it would be like to live in Provo. Island living is fabulous! Zero complaints from us. I’ve been to every island in the West Indies, and I was actually surprised that Provo rated at the top for me. Provo is filled with fairly wealthy people, and so we did not experience people pestering us to buy something or to give them money. There was none of that here. Everyone was friendly, yet they pretty much leave you alone. The best part about Satori is it’s location. Because it’s not right on the beach (don’t worry, it’s really, really close), you get some privacy. The short walk to Grace Bay Beach was pleasant and fun to spot the zillions of tiny geckos. No need to charter a boat to snorkel the reefs; Satori has the best snorkeling reef right out front, then about a 100 feet to the left. Seriously, there are amazing fish that you can see from shore. We were lucky enough to see two small sharks. For meals, you have the choice of eating at home (shop at one of the IGA’s). Or you can stroll along the most beautiful beach in the world and pick from dozens of restaurants associated with other resorts. We never had a bad meal. For those who enjoy Starbucks or Booster Juice, there is a tropical version, called the Green Bean Cafe nearby. Great coffee, smoothies, food and atmosphere. We went there all the time. Though the island is small, we recommend you rent a car and do some exploring. Grace Bay is great, but Taylor Bay, Pelican Beach, and Long Beach have their own special qualities that you really should experience. Taylor Bay is especially good for kids because it is shallow, warm and the sand feels like powdered sugar. We loved our stay at Satori so much that we’d like to hit the “repeat” button for next year. You know your vacation was great if you are willing to do it all over again. Thanks Jo-Ann!

‘An excellent place to have been to and with the goal of returning again soon.’

The beautiful pictures and description of this rental property was exactly as shown… clean throughout with Caribbean colors. The walk to the beach was very accurate, even with my walking disabilities. The ocean and it’s breath taking colors, the white sandy beach, wide and spacious was very encouraging for suntanning, swimming, strolling or jut to take some pictures, never can have enough! The water can actually change colors before your very eyes, from a sheer turquoise to a deeper blue. The sand here was great the little ones to make their dream castles in the sand. Many of the parents down there on their knees showing the children how it was done. A great place to be, to come and visit at Satori at Grace Bay.

JoAnn the owner was also very pleasant and would go out of her way to make sure all was well with you and your expectations were met.

Tiki Hut was a great please to eat, Green Bean Coffee was a great place for coffee lovers and the muffins were yummy. Coco Bistro Restaurant was also very nice a beautiful setting, a romantic place for young lovers. We have been married now for 49 years but I felt that we fit right in, as age doesn’t matter when the atmosphere and the food are excellent.

We will be back again to visit in the beautiful Caribbean, Turks & Caicos and Satori at Grace Bay for sure.

Thank you, JoAnn for making our stay great with the feeling of being at home….

‘Relaxation and activity for total enjoyment’

My wife and I enjoyed this property for a month from Feb. 11/12 to March 11/12. We were looking for a vacation destination that would provide peace and quiet but at the same time have the opportunity to be engaged with activities such as diving, snorkelling or just walking for miles on a safe beautiful beach without the typical tourist crowd and beach vendor hassles. We received this and more at exceptional value. The house is very private, spacious and comfortable. If you chose to eat in there is a complete kitchen with all the a accessories as well as a barbecue and patio for outside. Satellite T.V., phone and internet service are provided if you want these conveniences. Transportation was provided for us but bike and car rentals are close by as are most other services. Only a three minute walk from the incredible Grace Bay Beach; like no other we’ve been too. Clear turquoise water, shallow sandy bottom and clean, cool, white, soft sand. There is an amazing underwater coral park right offshore full of fish easy to view with fins and snorkel. Diving along world famous ” The Wall ” is a class experience I will never forget. A very pleasant home away from home… highly recommended for value and enjoyment. We reluctantly left but very happy and relaxed with many good memories.

‘Satori on Grace Bay – A great place to vacation!’

We stayed Dec 27 – Jan 9. Just got back and loved it ! I’m the first reviewer, so it will lenghty !!! We were quite fortunate to be the first family to rent ‘Satori’ and we were happy we did! JoAnn the owner was in Provo and we were greeted at house by her and shown around. She is a great person, very accomodating and helpful. She gave us a grand tour which was great! The house was meticulously clean as well! Satori is as it states in the ad 200 yards from the beach, really a total of 5 minutes until toes in the sand. You can snorkel right from this beach as well. The house is nicely decorated in Caribbean colours. The kitchen is large enough for a family of 4 as well as a dining table to eat at which was important to us. The 2 bedrooms are quite large and bigger than they appear in the pictures. It would be quite comfortable for up to 4 people. Wireless internet was handy. Places we enjoyed and would recommend to eat are Tiki Hut(wedenesdays for chicken/ribs) and Sharkbite(tuesday rock lobster), 5 minutes away by car. We liked Top of the hill Deli and Froots for lunch. Also good was the da Conch Shack in Blue Hills. We did a snorkel trip with Silver Deep that was good. If you want to rent a small skiff Abuv-it-All out of Ocean club was great and reasonable. There is another great reef, smith’s reef, 5 minutes away as well, close to shore and a lot to see. As JoAnn recommended to us take the tci ferry to North/Middle Caicos for at least the day and rent a car, it is really awesome. See pink flamingos in there natural habitat. You have to see Mudjin Harbour it is absolutely stunning! Go to Daniels for lunch and see the underground caves. I highly recommend going there! Do take some insect spray for sand fleas/flies if you go. For light sleepers there are a couple of roving roosters that ‘sometimes’ come close to the house to ‘help’ you get started to your day…we nicknamed one Don(dawn) and Dinner (my wife’s idea). Maybe earplugs just in case if you are not an early riser and again they are only around sometimes. Not negative but a wish list is propane bbq and dishwasher for my wife, but this is not enough of a deterent to come back. If you have a car take the time to visit the beaches on the the south side of the island Taylor beach, Sappodila are quiet and Taylor beach you can walk out for 300 yards in low tide up to you waist, great for kids. We recommend Satori and hope to be back again ! Thank you again JoAnn !!
